WHEELING, W.Va. — The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is fortunate to have dedicated board members who bring passion and experience to our mission. This year we are pleased to welcome a community leader to our Board, Pastor and Bishop of Bethlehem Apostolic Temple Rev. Dr. Darrell W. Cummings.
Rev. Dr. Cummings’ connection to CFOV spans more than 25 years—first as a recipient of the CFOV’s 2022 Jerry Schmitt Community Leadership Award, multiple CFOV funds, and now as a valued board member helping to uplift others. His deep commitment to community service is evident in his extensive leadership roles, including serving on the Ohio County Transportation Board, WV Health Care Board, Wheeling Hall of Fame Board, WV Human Rights Commission, the Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Celebration Committee, and the Ohio Valley Ministers Board.
For Rev. Dr. Cummings, the most rewarding part of being on the CFOV board is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, particularly in the lives of young people. He believes CFOV plays a crucial role in strengthening the region by fostering philanthropy and creating opportunities for a brighter future. His goal is to be a positive influence, and he hopes that more individuals recognize the benefits of giving back and getting involved.
Through his decades of ministry and service, Rev. Dr. Cummings has witnessed the power of community support to change lives. Now, as a CFOV board member, he is dedicated to continuing that legacy—helping to build a stronger, more connected Ohio Valley.
“Darrell’s impact on the community is immeasurable,” says Executive Director Susie Nelson. “Darrell leads his church members and other community volunteers to carry out massive events to help fill the gap for people in need, right around the times of the year when the need is the greatest. We are honored to add him to our Board of Directors, and proud to have him on our team.”
