The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley Launches Inaugural Grantmaking Cycle for the River Valley Health Fund

POSTED ON

WHEELING, W.Va. — The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is announcing the launch of its inaugural grantmaking cycle for the River Valley Health Fund (RVHF).  This fund carries on the legacy of the former River Valley Health Foundation, which was created as a result of the sale of Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital to Alecto Healthcare Services. The fund aims to improve the health of the Ohio Valley through grants to organizations addressing healthcare vulnerabilities, emerging health issues and risks, and access to the highest quality of care.

“The launch of the River Valley Health Fund marks a significant milestone in our continued mission of enhancing and strengthening our community,” says CFOV Executive Director Susie Nelson. “By supporting initiatives that address critical health needs and improve access to care, we aim to continue the important work of the former River Valley Health Foundation. We are excited to see the positive impact this fund will have on the lives of individuals and families in the Ohio Valley.

The River Valley Health Fund prioritizes projects that:

– Provide health education or services for vulnerable children, at-risk elderly, and indigent populations,

– Offer education on healthcare and nutrition,

– Conduct healthcare screenings,

– Address food insecurity, and

– Provide primary healthcare or dental care services.

Nonprofits in Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel counties in West Virginia and Belmont, Jefferson, Monroe, Guernsey, and Harrison counties in Ohio may apply. Applications for RVHF grants will be accepted from June 3, 2024, through July 1, 2024. Funding announcements are expected in August. To apply, visit the River Valley Health Fund webpage.  Only one grant request per organization will be considered.
