POSTED ON

TYLER COUNTY, W.Va. — The CFOV is pleased to announce the 2024 grant awards from the Stealey Community Fund. This year’s grants total $407,060.00 and will support 14 projects throughout Tyler County, with a special emphasis on Middlebourne.

Ruth Stealey Green, a retired teacher who was the fund’s founder, created the fund in honor of herself and her brother, Philip Stealey. She stipulated that projects must benefit the Middlebourne-area community. Special consideration is given to programs and projects that improve the quality of life for Middlebourne residents, such as enhanced library services, recreational opportunities, municipal improvements, and youth services. An advisory committee reviews submitted applications and makes award recommendations to the CFOV.

Since its creation nearly 20 years ago, the Stealey Community Fund has made more than $3 million in grants.

Projects awarded through this grant cycle will enhance a wide variety of community and school-based opportunities and programs, continuing the legacy of positive impact on the Middlebourne community and Tyler County.
