WHEELING, W.Va. — The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is pleased to welcome Jeffrey Kessler to its Board of Directors. A practicing attorney since 1981, Kessler is a founding member of the law firm Berry, Kessler, Crutchfield, Taylor & Gordon in Moundsville, WV. His extensive legal career includes serving as City Attorney for Benwood, Municipal Judge for McMechen, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Marshall County. He also served as a West Virginia State Senator from 1997 to 2016, including a term as Senate President and WV Lieutenant Governor from 2011 to 2015.
Kessler’s involvement with CFOV began when he helped transfer dormant estate funds to the Foundation, which introduced him to the organization’s impactful scholarship administration work. He joined the board less than a year ago and is most excited to help provide scholarship assistance to local youth pursuing college and post-secondary education.
Beyond CFOV, Kessler serves on the board of WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital and has held previous leadership roles with the Regional Economic Development (RED) Board, United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, and BB&T Bank (now Truist).
He shared, “I’ve spent a lifetime in public service and find it rewarding to see those efforts improve the lives of individuals and our communities.”
The CFOV is grateful for Kessler’s dedication to service and making an impact in the communities we serve.
