WHEELING, W.Va. — Meet Jeff Knight, President & CEO of The Health Plan and the newly elected Board President of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV). With a deep commitment to the region and a passion for long-term community impact, Knight brings strong leadership, financial expertise, and a heart for service to CFOV’s Board of Directors.
Knight has been involved with CFOV for the past three years and stepped into the role of Board President in 2026. He was drawn to the Foundation’s mission because of its ability to address both immediate needs and long-term opportunities across the Ohio Valley.
“I wanted to be part of an organization that not only supports today’s needs, but also thinks about the future of the Ohio Valley – its families, nonprofits, and the quality of life we leave for the next generation,” Knight says. “CFOV is an effective organization for making a lasting difference in our community.”
As Board President, Knight is excited to help guide CFOV’s strategic vision and ensure the Foundation continues to serve the region for generations to come. With a background in finance, leadership, and nonprofit governance, he looks forward to contributing to thoughtful planning and sustainable growth that strengthens CFOV’s impact across its service area.
Knight’s commitment to community involvement extends well beyond CFOV. He currently serves on the boards of The Children’s Home of Wheeling, the West Virginia Life & Health Guaranty Association, the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Regional Economic Development Partnership (RED), reflecting his dedication to both social and economic progress in the Ohio Valley.
Professionally, Knight began his career in public accounting and earned his CPA certification before joining The Health Plan, where he has spent the past 28 years in a variety of leadership roles and now serves as President and CEO.
Through his work in healthcare, Knight has seen firsthand how community resources shape quality of life. He is especially passionate about addressing social determinants of health, including access to nutritious food.
“Access to healthy food is one of the most basic and essential determinants of health,” Knight says. “Food pantries play a critical role in ensuring individuals and families receive the nutrition they need. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to support local food pantries so they can keep their shelves stocked, especially during times of increased need.”
As CFOV’s new Board President, Knight is focused on strengthening partnerships, supporting nonprofits, and helping build a healthier, more resilient Ohio Valley for generations to come.
