The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley presented the Bridgeport Exempted Village School District with $15,000 to support the Perkins Field project at Wednesday’s board meeting. This donation is part of a broader fundraising effort that successfully amassed over $100,000, led by the Perkins Field Committee, composed of alumni and community members.
These funds have played a critical role in the renovation of Perkins Field, including the installation of new bleachers, a concession stand, and various other improvements. The need for these upgrades arose when the previous bleachers were found to be unusable.
Debbie Stanton, Program Officer at the Community Foundation, praised the committee’s efforts, saying, “They were the ones that raised the money and did name recognitions and name plates and sold rows to people for classes and different classes and alumni to be able to bring this project to fruition and bring football back to Bridgeport.”

The donation from the Community Foundation is earmarked for the addition of new bleachers on the visitors’ side of Perkins Field, bringing a close to the fundraising chapter for this project.
Brent Ripley, Superintendent of the Bridgeport School District, expressed his gratitude for the Community Foundation’s ongoing support and generosity. The funds ensure Perkins Field’s continued maintenance and suitability for hosting various sports activities including football, baseball, softball, and track.
The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is committed to educational and community initiatives, enhancing local facilities, and fostering a spirit of collaboration and community involvement.
